After a great week off back in Australia, I felt determined to get things going in Beijing. The tournament was played at the magnificent Topwin Golf Club just north of Beijing and a former host of the Volvo China Open. The course was presented in excellent condition and coming into the week I felt a bit more confident about how I was going to play.
I started out with a solid round of 2 under par leaving me in about 30th place after the first round and a steady start to the trip. Round two was more of the same but with a little more confidence as I played my way into contention for the tournament, shooting a second round 67, 5 under par and into 8th place heading into the weekend.
Once again I am forced to use the word ‘unfortunately’ as I just did not feel all that comfortable over the weekend with rounds of 71 and 74 to see me finish in a tie for 31st and 6 under par for the tournament. I was however very pleased with the week despite the finish as I had given myself those feelings of being in contention again and that is my goal for any given week. It was a good sign that things are moving in the right direction.
My next event is the Qinhuangdao championship which will be played from the 16th to the 19th of May.
