Returning to The Country Club for a 2nd time in the month, I was determined to seek a little revenge from this extraordinarily challenging course. The TCC invitational is a special event on the local Philippine Golf Tour that invites the top 30 players from last year’s order of merit to a no cut 4 round event with the course setup aimed at challenging every facet of our games.
I drove the ball really well all week and through 3 rounds, I was +8 and in 5th position going into the final round. For whatever reason, when I teed off in the last round, it was anything but textbook. Within the first 6 holes, I had already lost 4 balls and turned through 9 holes +12 wondering to myself what on earth had happened. I managed to get it together shooting 35 on the back and bringing it in for 83 which when factoring in the start to my round, was a reasonable result. The difficulty of the course is shown in the scoring as finishing at +19 for the event saw me finish in 11th place.
After a testing 5 weeks in a row, I can certainly say I am ready for a week off before the next run of events. My next event will be the Beijing Championship starting on the 9th of May.
