It was an extremely quick transition from Haikou to Luisita as the 2019 Luisita Championships started on a Monday to make way for the Easter Long weekend in the Philippines.
After a saturday flight out of Haikou to Manila, followed by a very early drive up to Tarlac City on Sunday morning, I played the pro am which gave me a reasonable look at the course where I have had some prior success. For me, this was an important week to get the ball rolling as it has been a slow start to the year and I want to try and get some momentum with the PGA Tour China starting to get into full swing.
It was a sluggish start with a 75 leaving me with plenty of work to do in the 2nd round but I managed to put a solid day together and shoot a 1 under par 71 and make the cut by two shots, giving me some more golf over the weekend. I had a decent 3rd round shooting a 2 under par, 70 and getting me back to even par for the event coming into the final day. I would unfortunately go out and not play my best on Sunday, signing for a disappointing 77 leaving me at +5 for the tournament in a tie for 31st.
Whilst there were some bad moments, there was quite a few positives I can take from the week and hopefully start building some momentum for the weeks ahead.
My next event is ‘The Country Club Invitational’ starting next Tuesday April 22nd.
