The Haikou Championship was playing at the very narrow, Sunac 3 mile course just outside of Haikou City on China’s Hainan island.
This would be a very challenging week for all involved as the tour had lost one of its nicest players on the Sunday before the event. Arie Irawan was a tremendous character who was gone far too soon. He will be sorely missed.
The event was be played with flags at half mast for the entire week and every player wore a blue ribbon to remember our friend.
In terms of the golf it was a story of Jekyll and Hyde for me, shooting a solid event par the first day and following it up with a very disappointing 80 the second day to miss the cut and have yet another weekend off.
My next event is a Monday start in the Philippines at the Luisita Championship in Tarlac City starting on the 15th of April.
