2019 Chongqing Championship

After a couple of weeks off in Atlanta following the New Zealand PGA and some good practice in I was feeling pretty good for the first event on the PGA Tour China Series Schedule.  This was to be played at the Poly Golf Club in the New North Zone of Chongqing, China.

My week was put off to a rocky start with a severe stomach bug hitting me overnight before my morning flight from Sydney and as such I was not in a position to travel.  I managed to get on a flight the following day fortunately and after a 14 hour travel day was at the course first thing on Wednesday morning for my only practice round.
I played very solid the first day and managed (sadly) to miss quite a few birdie opportunities for a steady 1 under par 72 (the course is a par 73).  The second round saw this solidarity continue with the exception that I couldn’t seem to convert my opportunities on the green.  This saw me finish with a very mediocre 1 over par 74 and 2 shots outside the cutline.
Still some more work to do on the game but with a big run of events coming up, I have no doubt I can get myself into a position to contend for the win in a few events.
My next event with be the Solaire Philippine Open at The Country Club in Santa Rosa, Philippines April 3-6.
