2018 ICTSI Club Filipino de Cebu Invitational

Following on from Iloilo, it was a short flight over to the holiday island of Cebu. This island is known for its whale shark watching and beautiful tropical waterfalls set amongst the blue coral reefs. This week however, it was the Philippine Golf Tour at the Club Filipino de Golf in Danao City.

My tournament began with rounds of 71 and 74 to be 3 over par after two rounds and sitting in a tie for 18th. The course was extremely hilly and quite narrow, so there was little margin for error.

Moving into day 3 saw some bad weather come in and we only managed to get 6 very rain soaked holes in before the course became unplayable and greens went underwater. It was survival of the fittest in the weather and I did well to be 2 over through the first 6 as everything was soaked through (including the greens as the pictures show!). After a lengthy rain delay, it was decided the event would be shortened to 3 rounds and we would come back the following day to finish the remained of round 3.

In better conditions I played a little better, fighting my way back to even par before an unfortunate double bogey on the 14th hole and my eventual score being a1 over par 72 and finishing the week in 19th.

It was quite a challenging week in terms of my golf as I felt I struck the ball well but did not convert enough of my opportunities on the greens. This gave me something to look at for the following week in Manila for the next PGT-Asia event and the 4 event in a row.
