I was lucky enough to be able to spend an extra day in Cebu after the previous weeks events taking in some of the sights and sounds as well as a much needed rest day before the following weeks event. There are so many great things to take in when you are constantly on the road but usually little time to actually see them, so it was nice to be able to see some of the sights.
The Aboitiz Invitational was played on the Palmer Course at the Orchard Golf and Country Club in Dasmarinas, just south of Manila. The course was presented in great condition and was playing a lot longer than the previous 2 weeks. I got off to a solid start with rounds of 2 under and 4 under, though my finish in round 2 included a double bogey 7 on my last hole which left a sour taste in my mouth coming off the course. Regardless of that I was back in the hunt with two rounds to go.
Unfortunately over the weekend I struggled to score as well and managed a 1 over par 73 and even par 72, again making a double bogey 7 on my last hole, seeing me finish in a tie for 16th at 5 under par.
To finish my fourth week in a row like this was frustrating to say the least, particularly as I felt I had played some really good golf and was in contention for 3 of the 4 events during the course of each event. On the other hand, I had 4 very solid results and am looking to build on that.
My next event is the Hawks Nest Pro am on Friday the 14th of September before heading over to the US in preparation for the first stage of qualifying for the Web.Com Tour in early October.
