Manila Southwoods Championships

The next event on this long stretch took me to the beautiful Southwoods country club just south of Manila. The event was played around the Legends course and the course was presented in excellent condition. After the previous 8 week stretch I was really keen to finish the run of events on a strong note. Paired with local favourite and Japanese tour player Angelo Que, I knew I would certainly have an enjoyable first couple of days regardless of the golf.

I opened with a solid round of 3 under par 69 where I missed plenty of opportunities and came off the course knowing I had better in me. The second round got off to a good start seeing me 3 under through 5 holes and later 5 under through 11 holes. I finished with 3 birdies in my last 4 with a total of 10 birdies in the round for an 8 par under 64, one of my lowest competitive rounds.

Over the weekend, I lost a little pace with the leaders but had a solid 70 and 69 respectively to finish in 4th place on my own at -16.

This stretch has been the busiest I have ever played with 8 weeks of tournaments over 9 weeks and certainly the most successful with my best 3 finishes as a professional, a 5th, 4th and a victory in Tahiti.

Now some much needed time off and then rebuild for the back end of the year with some of the bigger events on the Australasian tour leading up to the Web.Com qualifying tournaments starting in October.
